Thank you for your interest in hiring out the church buildings. Please read these notes carefully before you decide whether or not to make an application to hire a room etc. Please bear in mind that we are a church and not a community centre. These are the buildings in which we worship and therefore they are especially important to us. For this reason, specific conditions do apply and we would ask you to read through this information before calling, to avoid unnecessary disappointment.
Restrictions on the use of our buildings...
Our preference is for our buildings to be used by groups where there is clearly some benefit to the wider community. Also, as a Christian church, we do seek to uphold ethcial and Biblical standards in how the buildings are used. That means that we do set some limitations for use. We do therefore encourage people to consider other venues as well, where fewer restrictions might apply, such as the Hangleton Community Centre.
For example, we do not hire out the buildings for:
We therefore make it a requirement that individuals or organisations making an application for the use of the church premises will be asked to declare the purposes for which the premises will be used.
In summary, we welcome the use of the buildings for community purposes so long as the activities do not conflict with the values and beliefs of the church. The buildings are well kept and offer good facilities but, naturally, there are some restrictions due to church use and due to the size of the rooms available. Please see photos of the various rooms for hire on other pages under hire. The full hiring conditions are available from the church office. Please ask for details.
Use of our buildings by other churches or Christian groups.
From time to time, we do allow other churches or Christian groups to use our buildings, more usually for one-off meetings. Frequent use, such as weekly meetings are more difficult to cater for because of the restrictions this places on the use by Oasis as well as other hirers. In order to use our buildings, we need to be assured that the church or Christian group concerned is evangelical in theology and in good standing with other local churches. For churches or Christian organisations who are new to us or new to the area, we will request a statement of faith and at least one reference from a recognised evangelical church. Also, if a regular booking was accepted, it would be subject to a regular review. If in doubt, please email the Administrator for clarification.
